Message From Pastor Tim

Updated message from Pastor Tim and Emmanuel Lutheran Church, March 24, 2020

“Where do we get water to drink or food to eat? How do we escape the heat of the daytime or the cold of the night?”

God’s people faced hard questions when they traversed the wilderness. Today America and the world face a hostile pandemic with questions of survival. This is our Wilderness. God is with us and we shall learn to trust in Him. Regarding Emmanuel Lutheran Church here are some answers to questions we face about our church and its future. The governor has declared that gatherings for worship, study or other meetings at the church are too risky and must temporarily stop. So, Sunday, March 29th and Sunday, April 5, there will be no worship services held at Emmanuel.

Lent and Easter Services

There will be no Lenten soup suppers or devotions this Lenten season. There will be no Matins service on Saturday of those weeks. There will be no Sunday School classes. Saturday April 4th there will be no Men’s breakfast. Friday April 10th is Good Friday. Sadly, there will be no good Friday worship service. Sunday April 12th is Easter Sunday there will be no Easter breakfast. Easter worship is still pending.

The Women’s Bible study is temporarily on hold. Church Council will not meet in April. The Annual Delegates Meeting of Martha and Mary has been postponed. Whether we will be able to celebrate Easter in corporate worship is a pending decision.

Easter Flowers

As of right now, Easter flowers will be delivered to the church and you may pick up yours after Easter Sunday. If you would like to deliver a plant or two to those in need, you may make arrangements for that. We will notify you if this situation changes.

Continued Support

You may continue to financially support Emmanuel Lutheran Church through your
regular offerings which may be mailed to the church at:

Emmanuel Lutheran Church
2509 Perry Avenue,
Bremerton, WA 98310

You may continue to financially support our missionaries, Bob and Cheryl Fox, (and please keep them in your prayers). You may continue to financially support the food bank (see Sally’s article below). You may continue to be a blessing to others as Secret Prayer Partners.

More information will be available to you in the coming days by accessing the Emmanuel Lutheran Church website or through Facebook.

During these days we learn that what we thought was secure and stable is not as secure or stable as we had hoped. God’s message to us is that He is with us and we can trust in Him.

Kind Blessings,

Pastor Tim Cartwright
