December Message 2013

This Fall the Philippine people experienced a devastating earthquake. The homes of hundreds of thousands of people were flattened. As families huddled under tarps for shelter, clutching their meager belongings, the islands were hit by a powerful typhoon.

Its winds swept away their possessions and their shelters. The birth family of our fellow member Judith Dautenhahn lost all they had. They appealed to Emmanuel for aid. We accepted that call as from the Lord. Our goal was to raise $400 to construct a new bamboo shelter.

Emmanuel’s people raised over $700 for emergency aid. Now a larger shelter can be built. Thank you, Dear Saints, for honoring God with your gifts. Well done, Dear Ones.

You are invited to hear the story of the birth of Christ told by the children of Emmanuel at the annual Children’s Christmas Pageant, December 22 at our regular worship hour of ten a.m. Christ came to us as a child and is appropriate to have the children bring this story to us. Come, let us worship Him.

The 2013 Christmas Eve Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols will be at 6:30 pm, December 24th. St Nicholas will be there to tell the children the true story of Santa Claus (and he will share a treat with them).
