Epiphany is the season of revelation that which is hidden or unknown to us is revealed to us by God.
This revelation has come through God’s leaders, like Moses and David, and by prophets like Isaiah and Jeremiah. It came through New Testament writers like Paul. It especially came to us through our Lord, Jesus the Christ.
Today we have this revelation in the Bible, which we declare is the inspired, inerrant and infallible Word of God. I challenge you to join me in reading through the Bible in 2014. My plan is simple: three chapters a day and five on Sunday will get one through the Bible in one year.
What God reveals to us is, first, who He is, His character, His nature. There are many religions that do not reveal the character of their gods, the Lord God does reveal Himself when He speaks to us in Scripture.
God also reveals the truth of who we are, our nature and character, and our need to deal with our broken, sinful selves. Finally God reveals what He has done for us so we can live in a daily relationship with Him and have the hope of everlasting life.
The Wise Men of the book of Matthew came to the baby Jesus to give Him gifts and to worship Him. God had revealed to them in the stars what He was doing. Now you can come to Jesus. God has revealed to us and to you who He is and what He has done for us in Christ. Now you can come to Him by faith. Come to Jesus.
