Veteran’s Day we in the church honor our vets, and we have many at Emmanuel. Our veterans have supported and defended our nation. We believe that America is worth defending, that here in America we have freedoms many other people do not enjoy.
In some of the Muslim countries believers are being persecuted and killed. The news reported that thousands of refugee children have run from their homeland to safety when ISIL killed their parents. We have reason to be grateful to our veterans for their sacrifice and for our freedoms.
At Emmanuel, on November 16, we will honor our vets with the pledge to the flag and the Irving Berlin song, “God Bless America.” We will offer prayers of thanks for our veterans and uphold our military men and women before the Lord for their protection.
November is Thanksgiving time too. Emmanuel will have a Thanksgiving Eve Service featuring hymns and choruses of Thanksgiving and we’ll offer people the opportunity, during the service, to share why they are thankful.
The main reason we are thankful is because God is deserving of our thanks for all He has done for us. So come and honor the Lord with your thanksgiving on Thanksgiving Eve.
Please remember in your prayers Mary Walker, receiving treatments for cancer, and Doreen Fox, recovering from heart surgery. Also please pray for Larry Farner and Melody Knight, they are having surgery this month.
The Lord be with you,
Pastor Tim Cartwright
